I thought long and hard about the first blog post for this site. Should I bemoan the constant rejection? Complain about hack politicians? Berate the Yankees for spending $200 million on a crappy baseball team? Hmmm… choices, choices.
Then I settled on what I had learned the most about writing over the years. Sure writing is re-writing, there’s no money in it and I wish I was sitting out in the sunshine drinking a beer. We all KNOW that. But I’m at the computer because I want to be. I don’t really know what else I would be doing. Okay, hopping a flight to Hong Kong or Paris. You got me. But then I’d wind up writing about it.
You have to want to be a writer. Once you accept this (or admit defeat and do something else), you can be a happy and productive person. Just give in. You like to write and that is all you know. Good. Now let’s begin.
